A Bullet Journal Theme to Kick Off a New Year That Opens New Doors - With A Little Sparkle

For this year’s January cover page in my bullet journal, I decided to embrace a doors theme, and I’m so excited to share it with you! The quote I chose is "Old ways won't open new doors," which felt like a perfect reminder for the start of a new year. I’m always a bit harder on myself when it comes to my January setups—maybe it’s because I’m coming off the energy of creating my full yearly setup—so this time, I wanted something that felt minimal, yet meaningful.
The doors themselves are simple sketches, but I added a touch of gold pen sparkle behind each one to elevate the design. I felt like the minimalist look needed a little something extra to bring it to life, and the gold shimmer adds just the right amount of magic. This subtle detail reminds me of the opportunities and possibilities that lie behind each door, just waiting to be opened.
Choosing this theme was a bit of a breakthrough for me. I’ve often struggled with January setups in the past, feeling like they never quite capture the fresh start I’m hoping for. But this year, I wanted to take a step back and create something that was both visually appealing and full of meaning, without overwhelming myself. The doors theme felt like a symbolic way to usher in new opportunities while leaving the old behind.
